Welcome to the exhilarating world of kettlebells!

Kettlebells are an ancient Russian strongman tool - they have been around for a century or two and were previously been used by Russian Elite Military Forces and those crazy strongmen that lift cars and perform other super human feats of strength that defy belief.

Sound a bit hardcore for you?

Don’t worry - kettlebells are also for normal people like you and me. Here at Australian Kettlebells we have unique training programs that are ideal for the fitness beginner - you won’t be left feeling dead and exhausted if that’s not your thing. The basic training programs guide you each step of the way – you can challenge yourself has hard as you like – avoiding major pain and discomfort in the early days until you’re ready to step up.

What about if you’re not a beginner?

Never fear - if you’re an experienced athlete and you’re looking for an edge, kettlebells can help you too. Perhaps you want to experience some of the warrior like training methods from our Russian friends? Kettlebell training can be adapted for you too.

Australian Kettlebells have a kettlebell and fitness program for every Aussie bloke! You can start with an easy program or go for something that is a little more hardcore - the choice is yours.

How do they work?

Kettlebells are essentially a cannon ball with a handle attached. The kettlebell is lifted, swung, pressed and pulled in a variety of different ways. It’s important to realise they are not like your standard dumbbells. There is a huge difference between the two and believe me, the difference makes all the difference.

You see the kettlebell is not perfectly symmetrical like a dumbbell. The large mass of the bell and the handle are unique. It’s this feature that gives them their versatility and impressive results. When lifting the kettlebell you're forced to work extra hard (especially your core muscles) to keep it balanced and under control. This happens instinctively, so you don’t have to worry about it but it forces every muscle in your body to come alive and get to work.

It’s this unknown feature, unique to kettlebells, that gives you outstanding results in the shortest time possible. You work harder without even knowing it. After only a few minutes those deep stabilising muscles in your core along with other areas will be screaming for a break - and because extra muscles are activated you automatically increase your metabolism and therefore excess fat and weight falls away.

Traditional exercises are simply nowhere near as effective. Push ups, sit ups and running although beneficial, are a distant second when compared to kettlebell training. It’s all about body composition - you’re left with a lean, toned and athletic looking body. It’s for this reason that many elite sporting clubs world wide are now using kettlebells in their training. Kettlebells give you more ‘bang for your buck’ compared to any other fitness tool on the market - bar none!

With just a few 15 minute workouts each week you’ll start to see results. Surplus fat will vanish, leaving those ripped muscles to shine through. And don’t forget about the cardio - a 15 minute workout gives your heart and lungs all the exercise they can handle.

What else makes them so good?

Kettlebell training mimics the primal movements of human motion. This means that training with kettlebells develops functional movement patterns for day to day activities as well as for any sport you participate in. So whether you need some extra juice to run up the stairs or you want to get the jump on your footy mates, kettlebells provide you the fitness advantages you’re looking for.

  • Get wiry strength, explosive agility and world class stamina
  • The single best conditioning tool for sport
  • Hack the fat off your meat – without boring and time consuming aerobics and cardio routines
  • Develop steel like tendons and ligaments
  • Absorb ballistic shocks – and laugh as you easily bounce off your opponents tackles and hits
  • Attract all the ladies you want with masculine and strong arms

A proper balanced kettlebell program trains your body from heads to toe. Training with kettlebells will develop your body’s core, hips, back, grip and shoulders - your body becomes a sculptured masterpiece with everything in correct proportions.

Further, this type of training leaves you feeling lean, strong and athletic. Forget the gym, forget all the other useless gym gadgets - you’ve found the holy grail of training!

"Kettlebells has introduced to the Collingwood Football Club functional and innovative training strategies, which have provided us with an opportunity to enhance the player’s strength and power characteristics. The Collingwood Football Club are continually seeking cutting edge equipment and transferring training adaptations to the sporting environment, Kettlebells will provide an opportunity to progress to a new level of performance."

Two simple drills but a whole world of results:

Modern kettlebell training has been designed to be quick and easy…there are two simple drills that are the foundation of kettlebell training for men.

Drill one: The swing - this simple drill forms the backbone of kettlebell ballistic drills. You'll get a cardio workout like no other while simultaneously strengthening your legs, hips, back, shoulders, grip and core. It can be done with one arm or two.

The Swing

Drill two: The Turkish Get Up - A strange name but incredible results can be achieved with the Turkish Getup. You'll develop a rock solid core and super strong (and flexible) shoulders. This is also a fantastic way to improve balance, coordination and agility.

The Turkish Get Up

It doesn’t stop there. Kettlebells offer a whole range of training options and exercises. There's literally hundreds of exercises and different options to keep you motivated and improving.

"Kettlebell training is a step above the rest. In a long association in the fitness industry I’ve never come across anything as effective as kettlebell training. The body is trained for strength, power, endurance and flexibility simultaneously. After a workout, you feel energised and alive."

What is a Kettlebell?

Initially used to train Russian Military Forces and strongmen that lift cars and perform other feats of super human strength. Kettlebells have been adapted for women thanks to slimmer and lighter designs.

The kettlebell offers the most complete training solution that no other fitness tool or exercise can offer.

  • Full body workout
  • Endurance
  • Flexibility
  • Strength
  • Power
  • Weight loss
  • Increased bone density

Kettlebell workouts are brief but results will come quickly, even if you train just twice a week. It’s not unusual for ladies to lose 1% of their body fat each week for weeks at a time.

Because kettlebells train the entire body simultaneously, you are forced to work extra hard. Even after five minutes you’ll know you’ve had a serious workout and feel confident in the fact that you’ve had a complete and fulfilling session. Kettlebell training makes you feel energised and alive, even after a grueling workout. It is real training. There is no gimmicks, miracle cures or false promises. If you follow the program you get results. Simple.

Although many women are looking for quick fix results or lean towards dieting, kettlebells offer a real alternative. If training hard scares you then don’t worry. Our training programs have been designed so any woman can start slowly and progress to more difficult and challenging exercises.

Kettlebells allow you to train in the comfort of your own home. They are fully transportable, so you can take them anywhere. No need to worry about busy gyms or training with men. You can train to your maximum potential without feeling intimidated by someone else who is more advanced. You're in full control with each workout…free to go at your own pace.

What makes the Kettlebell unique?

Kettlebells are essentially a cannon ball with a handle attached. The kettlebell is lifted, swung, pressed and pulled in a variety of different ways. It’s important to realise they are not like your standard dumbbells. There is a huge difference between the two and believe me, the difference makes all the difference. You see, the kettlebell is not perfectly symmetrical like a dumbbell. The large mass of the bell and the handle are unique.

It’s this feature that gives them their versatility and impressive results.

When lifting the kettlebell you are forced to work extra hard (especially your core muscles) to keep it balanced and under control. This happens instinctively, so you don’t have to worry about it. Every muscle in your body has to come alive and get to work.

The humble kettlebell gives you functional strength not bulky or superficial muscles.

Why are the core muscles so important?

These are the muscles that help protect your back. A strong core will keep you upright; you will look great and walk with better posture. Someone with poor core muscles will never be graceful or elegant. They will slouch and be susceptible to injury. A strong core will give you more than inner strength. You will gain a certain inner confidence. Your movements will be that of a positive and energetic person…ready to take on the world
